Ireland's cultural heritage is worth around €2bn to the tourism industry every year, according to Failte Ireland.
The organisation says Irish music, literature, museums, sports and buildings are a major reason for tourists visiting the country.
More than half of visitors cite cultural or historical interests as their main reason for choosing Ireland as a holiday destination.
Some of the world's leading tourism experts are in Dublin today to attend Failte Ireland's annual conference, which will be discussing the value of culture to the industry.
